Amiga 500 1mb chip ram hack
« on: March 26, 2005, 10:32:05 AM »
I am interested in doing this 1mb hack for the a500. I had a dead rev6 board (it was booting, but doesn't read anything from floppy), so I got the rams from there. however, later I realised that my soldering iron was 60w. And I think I damaged some of the memory chips. So I'm not sure if I should go on installing these chips into the working board. what should I do ? Can I find other chips from other hardware ? Has anyone done this hack before ?

yes, do i need to add 4 more caps ? I'm not(edit) sure what is a cap, but there are orange like diode - thingies for each original ram chip. do i need to add those as well ?

and how does the dead ram error look like ? power led blinking ?
