When you install Luciferin, it asks you to split
the Amiga Romupdate. When you replied with 'yes',
it installs these files in the Modules/Romupdate drawer
of the Luciferin drawer. You can put these files in the
flashrom of the Deneb. Then change the setpatch command
in your startup-sequence to 'setpatch NOROMUPDATE QUIET'
This should get rid of the double clutch.

Edit: Check if your current setpatch command skips some
romupdate, for example scsi.device. If it does, don't
put this file in the flashrom.

Lloyd

Usually when you use Idefix or the IDE controller of the
X-surf you must skip the scsi.device romupdate.
If you don't use either of these, you can put all
romupdates in the flashrom of the deneb (incl. scsi.device)
If you do use one of these, you must skip scsi.device, but
you can put all other romupdates in the flashrom.
In either case after these changes, you must change your
setpatch command to use the NOROMUPDATE option.
Edit:
After re-reading your post I think your system needs
the romupdate of scsi.device, so just put it in the
flashrom, and all other updates too. Use NOROMUPDATE in
setpatch. Then power off your system, and power it on again
after 1 minute or so.
If then you still have problems, I wouldn't know what's going on.
Doublecheck if scsi.device and everything else
is in the flashrom by clicking on the flashrom tab in
luciferin.
You can also try to contact Chris Hodges.

Lloyd

Is it the scsi.device update that allows for larger hard disks?

Yes it is.

I guess if I can't eliminate the double clutch it's no big deal

Did you try to flash it with the romupdates and power off
your system, like I said? The rom-updates normally can be
put in the flash-rom. I do this with my system, and it
works like a charm, but I use the IDE controller
of my xsurf, so I skipped scsi.device.

Well, you could try to add just one romupdate at a time
to your flashrom, starting with scsi.device. Each time'
you've added a module to your flashrom reboot, and see
if you get a guru. This way you can figure out if it's
one of the romupdates that's causing this trouble.

#2: Nothing works on the Deneb.

Have you added denebdmausb.device in the controller
section of Trident prefs ?
Edit: And put poseidon online?

If you want USB to be available immediately when booting
into Workbench, start Trident and make sure the right
controller is in the controller section. Then select online
and save your prefs. Then check if the following is in your
user-startup: 'ENV:PSDStackloader'.

If you want USB to be available immediately when you turn
on your amiga (in the early boot menu), you must put
all poseidon related stuff in the deneb flashrom.

The package contains the hardware, a manual and a
registration card. The installation software is in
the flashrom of the card. This was done, because there
are many people with problematic floppy disk drives.
Installation was a breeze. Insert the card in a free
Zorro slot, set the RESCUE jumper and power on the
system. In workbench a virtual disk is automatically
mounted with the installation software on it. Install
the software, power off the system and remove the RESCUE
jumper. Then power on again. Poseidon and Luciferin
both come with very clear documention in amigaguide format.
I had the Deneb installed in less then half an hour,
including software installation and configuration.
All of my USB devices are recognized (cardreader,
printer, scanner, flashdrives etc. ). Michael Boehmer
and Chris Hodges delivered a top product. I have no regrets
buying the Deneb card. If people have any doubts buying
this card, don't hesitate. It works beautifully and the
speed is incredible.

Lloyd

ENVARC:PsdStackLoader: Unknown Command

That's probably because you haven't saved your settings
yet with Trident prefs.

Now MUI won't install because it can't find a file called " "!

Look at this thread at EAB.

Is there a way to tell setpatch to only run the scsi.device update and leave the others on the Deneb?

You can try to use the SKIPROMUPDATES option of setpatch.
For example:
SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES "exec.library,fastfilesystem" QUIET

This example will install all romupdates, except for
exec.library and fastfilesystem.

I don't know if there's another version of scsi.device that
will work with your system.

Do you already have drivers for your scanner, printer and card reader

My cardreader, flashdrives etc. don't need drivers.
These are all massstorage devices, and the massstorage
class of poseidon deals with them.
For my printer I also use turboprint and for my scanner
I use FXscan. Both my printer and scanner are a bit old
(2001) and are supported by both programs.

@mbrantley
Just found a patch for scsi.device bb2. It's on
aminet.
It contains some bugfixes. From what I understand of it,
it also contains a bugfix by Chris Hodges. Maybe this
one will work for you.
Edit: if you need any help with patching scsi.device,
maybe I can help you out.

Otherwise you can also try to load scsi.device with
loadmodule and use NOROMUPDATES in setpatch.

@mbrantley

I've made a new scsi.device romupdate file based on the
patch I told you about (v43.45). If you want to try it
out with the deneb flash, I can mail it to you.

If you have one of these cards installed can you use a USB flashdrive as a boot drive?

Yes.
