I'd say, the only thing to worry about if you put it on its side is to remove the factory installed battery, because if it leaks, it'll probably leak onto your CPU card (or if flipped the other way around, the drives), unlike when it's flat. In that case it leaks onto the motherboard which is usually easier to replace/fix than a CPU card.

Now you can plug in there almost *every* SCSI drive-type device in there :-)

Yeah, you could have a ZIP drive, a couple of CD/DVD ROMs/writers, a SuperDrive, an Optical Drive, a tape drive, a CF card reader or two and of course many many hard drives :-) All SCSI of course (but not necessary).
