I usually try to avoid these dead-end threads, but I'll make an exception...

Dear Ral-Clan, he (Bill McEwen, CEO of Amiga Inc) never was an Amiga enthusiast. He was hired by Gateway as an evangelist for their then-bought Amiga intellectual property (I've heard rumors, which I'd love to see better substantiated, which state that was his first glimpse of an Amiga). A SALESman basically. And what do salesmen do? Lie. That's their job. Maybe not 100% lies, but very much like any orange juice or any other fruit juice you buy in our MODERN age: mostly water, 20% or less actual fruit juice. In small type.

So guys, please don't question an obvious matter - don't beat the darned dead horse no more. If you're pissed about the lies, do something: like hack their site, DOS them, send them stinky packages, visit their "HQ" and do something spontaneous, (a-la Bill Gates + cream pie in Belgium - that would rock!) but please, don't sit here and munch out our ears.

The future of Amiga lies with these companies/projects (until something new and totally unexpected comes out of nowhere like a bat out of hell to dominate the Amiga world! :-D ):
MiniMiG
AROS
Morph OS
Amiga OS 4 / Hyperion
DiscreetFX
Individual Computers / Clone-A (Jens Schoenfeld)
Elbox
Acube
AmigaKit / Vesalia
Amiga Round Table
All our lovely forums (a.org!) and websites
Amiga shows: ATTEND them, you cheap b******s! (you = plural, not for Ral-Clan)
Amiga demo parties: ATTEND you lazy b******s! (you = plural, not for Ral-Clan)

This is a quick list and I'm sure I've forgotten some decent people, but excuse my memory and note that NOWHERE in there is Amiga Inc mentioned. That's because it ain't the future, but the demise of anything Amiga. I would have wished 10 times the evil witch Trammiel or the other greedy and incapable Commodore moron executives/business drones had held onto Amiga, or even ESCOM, or even Gateway, because they were LESSER evils than this new entity. They could at least deliver *something*.

Enough said. Save your breath, your money, your energy, and give it to the guys who need it most: MiniMiG, AROS, etc.

Hi Spihunter,

you are right about the fact that Amiga Inc controls Amiga OS and other IP, but yet I feel that this type of tyranny will not hold for long in the "new world" - the connected (via Internet) world, where open source and MASSIVE, UNHINDERED communication between all involved parties (us, the users, developers, fans!) will allow us to better defend our selves and eventually win.

In the old world, they (corporations) had all the power because they could muster an army (of lawyers) against us (the individual hackers), but we couldn't. Now things are changing, and we can amass together, and they won't be able to interfere so much. Linux and its evolution is a close paradigm to this.

Anyways, my point simply boils down to: if a large number of Amiga users want something that is not economically viable for Amiga Inc (ex. MiniMig or AROS), well then they won't be able to do anything about it. They will either keel over and die (I surely hope so in this case), or join in the fun (I surely hope NOT - they don't deserve an ounce of it!)

Last point: don't forget boys and girls: we learned from Microsoft. They use FUD - fear, uncertainty and doubt to scare you away! Don't yield! Fight - fight for our Amiga!

Cheers to all real Amigans!

PS. I'm not sorry for the polemic speeches - I hope it gives hope to those that have run low on hope (or had their sucked away by Amiga Inc's doings), because there IS hope!

Thank you Plaz and cpfuture! I'm happy that I have an audience ;-)  [anyone who's got a Pink Panther mascot is cool by my book :-)]

Also love all the other caustic comments. So creative! Amiga-style! That's the spirit guys! No need to be afraid! Next step: to take our fate on our own hands: support the open and *productive* projects by giving our monetary vote. Spread the the word. Keep the ball rolling. 2008 is looking very promising!
