I think you are a bit confused.
If you have ID1, ID2 and ID3 you should jumper ID1 and ID2 to set the Unit to 3.
ID1  ID2  ID3  Unit    X=No Jumper -= jumper
 x    x    x    0
 -    x    -    1
 x    -    x    2
 -    -    x    3
 x    x    -    4
 -    x    -    5
 x    -    -    6
 -    -    -    7

that's how it works on most of my SCSI devices. Hope that help you a bit.  :-D
