FS on ebay Cybervision 64/3D & Scandoubler
« on: March 11, 2008, 12:11:56 AM »
Get it quick if you're interested...

Cybervision 64/3D & scandoubler module

--->Worldwide shipping

I listed this with "buy it now" or "best offer" at around what the last of these sold for.  I'm expecting it will probably go pretty quick so if you've been looking for these now's your chance.

test and working and guaranteed against DOA.

Sincerely,

actually $445 is asking price for both...

(I figured a fixed price listing would be quickest but if no one's bitting I'll be relisting in auction format and expect they'd bring at least what I'm asking)

***...and am accepting offers.***

last sale I could find on these both went for $455

and

The reality is that no one is making graphics cards any more so the ones that are out there are the only ones there are.

just to nudge things along I dropped the asking price a wee bit...

$190 for the card
&
$240 for the scan doubler for a total of $430 for both which makes it a little cheaper to ship them worldwide.

I think the low value of the dollar is having something to do with prices these days.

and am still taking offers so if you think that's too high send me your best offer...thanks.

and, btw, while revising those listings ebay tells me the category is no longer valid...there is no Amiga (or any other brand) category in Vintage Computing any more.

They've just put everything in Vintage Computing now.

..not sure I like that idea.  It was easier searching for Amiga stuff in it's own category before.

Anyway, you can still find all my stuff at:

I was wondering what others thought these two were worth?  separately? together?

I had queried folks in another thread a while ago...

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34929

seemed like asking price range was near accurate leaving room for people to make offers.

Of course, they are higher then retail now but you can't buy a graphics card retail anymore.

thanks.

300 USD for the set. Don't take ebay sales figures as valid information on how much your items are worth.

scandoubler is difficult to find at all now.

cards were selling retail for $179 but are no longer available....so that changes the picture.

ebay sales are high, to some degree, because of the currency conversion and are being driven by buyers in the UK/Japan,etc. who are getting items at a discount.

Asking prices are usually on the high side if someone's taking offers...and I set things less than recent sale prices.

(I think selling together at $300 would have seen them go in seconds if only for the scandoubler and the buyer may have ended up reselling the graphics card for nearly 2/3s of that and gotten a deal on the scandoubler.)

For the record, I've used/tested 3 scan doublers...the Deb 2000, the one Amiga made and this one...they all worked but this one is superior!  If you want a scandoubler and one that will work with your graphics card this is the one to have.

Scandoublers aren't difficult to find. Scandoublers in their usual sense, maybe, but there are many alternatives.

this scandoubler doesn't show up often...and it is nice by being integrated with the card..."monitor switcher/passthrough"

As for the scandoubler, yes, it's a good scandoubler, but there are others in equal quality. There are others I'd go for first.

the Amiga has a fair list:

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showcat.cgi?CATID=13

but I've only seen the three I mentioned and heard some reports on a few others.

Anyway, good luck on your ebay sales, I'm sure this isn't the last one of your FS threads.

thanks...been doing this stuff for 20+ years and the stuff piles up, not to mention doing sales for a few user's group friends who don't want to mess with it.

I've managed to whittle down my collection to a core of working stuff I want to hold onto but one person can only use so much...better to let someone else have a crack at it.

I've wondered if it wouldn't be better to hold regular auctions but offer "buy it now" pricing for items that seem to sometimes sell at prices in this range?

I've done that in the past.

A few times the items sold almost immediately and subsequently I was told by the buyer that they had let one get away previously.  Other times the auction ran the clock down and the items sold within $10 of the "buy it now" price I'd set or didn't sell at all with only token bids...those items just weren't that interesting.

you will have to relist items over and over again.

not so sure that's a bad thing.

maybe the first time around is a learning experience and if you sell the second time when you relist the fees aren't more any way...ebay sort of gives that chance.

so if a fixed price listing isn't attractive enough, the second time around being an auction may have an advantage especially since those watching the first one will be notified by ebay that the item has been relisted.

..it's not so much about "profit" for me but I put alot of time in with this stuff over the years and kept it in good shape, upgraded, etc.

My genuine affection for it and nostalgia makes it hard to let go of so when I do it just seems reasonable to aim for the best price...out of respect for what it was worth to me.  There's plenty of it that I've handed off for nothing or near nothing over the years to those who had a use...but when you put a big sign up on the net it's more about those who haven't been able to find what they need and are willing to consider it's value.

Cybervision 64/3D went a while ago at the $190 asking price.

Scandoubler still outstanding at asking price of $240...2 days left, and it's the harder to find of the two so guess I'll have to see what happens.

...definitely surprised me...it's wild out there.

(bump)

a bit less than a day and a half to go on the scandoubler.

...and I dropped the asking price slightly to help out with shipping for those furthest away.

lots of watchers...hmmm.

Almost down to a day left.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300206326450

Only the scandoubler left, and that's the rarer of the two.

Priced under what the last auction took for one of these!

Lots and lots of people watching this one.
