Hi
Not sure if anyone remembers me on here?
Of course, the mark is indelible :-)

my Amiga has sat collecting dust the past few year and well i was wondering if OS4.1 is any good for classics?
What are the benefits? just hoping someone could give me the run down?
Thanks
I was in a similar boat (pre-OS4.1, back in the OS4 days).

The main enjoyment I got from my Amigas was building up the system to the maximum, just to see how far I could take the 20-year-old computer.
I found that once I'd built it to the max (A4KT, CSPPC, Deneb, Prometheus/Voodoo3, etc, etc) I never really ended up using much OS3.x software that much, and under WarpOS couldn't really see the advantage being worth hanging onto such valuable hardware which could/would eventually break down, rendering it worthless.
I bought OS4, but again never really got that much enjoyment from it - the hardware was worth probably 2x the price of a second hand A1/Peg2, was slower, and more fiddly to set up.

I would advise buying OS4.1 to see if you enjoy using it. Since - admittedly - you don't ever use OS3.x software any more, consider - is it worth holding onto this hardware? What enjoyment do I get from it? What benefits does the classicv Amiga hardware bring compared to a more modern system?

If you like OS4.1, you can part out and sell the miggy setup & software, buy a SAM or Peg2, buy OS4.1, have it running on more stable and faster hardware, and still have change to pay the gas bill.
If you don't like it that much, you can just sell the hardware and go on a holiday this year.

Alternatively, you can continue to sit on a £1000 worth of hardware and have it collect dust...
