I seem to remember him saying he was escaping to Switzerland, anyone heard from him?

Yes, I already searched and found out where he had gone, hence saying about him going to Switzerland.
The question was what had happened since then?

Wow, never had a problem with the guy myself, but there you go.
Didn't see the sig, so can't comment, but I think Wayne is reasonably balanced in his moderation, so it must have been pretty bad to have triggered being banned.
