If you're needing to crunch files to transfer pc-->amiga-->pc via floppy you may find this useful http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/ .
A file splitter and joiner which has both a windows and amiga version.  No incompatibility problems there! :-)

The one in my sig is, but HJsplit is still there - just checked.
