Adding SCSI to Blizzzard PPC
« on: January 26, 2006, 12:37:51 AM »
Has anyone actually done this?

I got hold of an EISA card with NCR 53c710 controller chip, and can get it de-soldered fairly easily.  I have a dead BPPC603e+ with the required SMD components on it and the SCSI connector header.
There are a couple of resistors which are hard to attach partly under one of the SIMM sockets, but i figure I could do that with conductive glue if needed (or remove a corner of the simm socket).

Aside form that I think I can sodler the components in place.

The thing is firmware - I know the flashrom has the scsi drivers, but is there any other firware on board (aside form the serial number) which tells the board whether it is scsi capable or not, or is it just a case of adding the components?

Anyone know of anyone who has actually done this (or failed trying)?

@x56h34

Hmmm, will have to compare chip numbers on my bppcs - which one is the flash chip anyhow?

think I'll get in touch with amiga repair centre, see what they can tell me.

Thanks
