Funeral:

I kinda agree with you...

There sure ARE some quite nice Amiga games but...

Well, there's no way around the fact, that many of the best games ever
were created for C64... Been stuck with Citadel for quite some time
recently...

Also, some arcade games are quite good, god bless MAME :-)

On PC, too many FPS games, but some quality games, like strategy now
and then. And of course, there's emulation possibility on PC aswell

Just a personal notion...

In the 80's many C64 games were far better than their Amiga
conversions

Games, like Cybernoid (Okay, only good thing Cybernoid had was the
brilliant music, that Amiga version lacked...)

List continues... Archon, Robocop, Atomino (Well, there sure are
others, but you get the idea?)

The reason?

Well, the way *I* see it, in the beginning Amigas were "too good for
that time"

It took time, before coders got used to that brilliant new hardware,
and learned, how to do amazing things, that were impossible or too
slow before.

And another reason, many of those early games were either originally
written for "more restricting" platforms, or were designed with such
versions in mind.

It took quite a while, before first killer "Amiga-only" titles
appeared, titles, like Shadow of the Beast (Well, that's not
Amiga-only, but afaik, it was designed for Amiga in the first place.
C64 version is also quite amazing, even better that Amiga version, if
you think of what machines the 2 versions are running on)

Another "bad" thingin first Amiga games: The musics. Why?

Well, not every musician had parallel port samplers back then, or if
they had, they lacked sounds to sample. Thus, they were mostly
restricted to those SoundTracker samples, well, not every one of them
is THAT horrible, but they sure could have been better...

And somehow, using similar samples, makes the music sound very same...

On C64 however, samples were rarely used (First time in Arkanoid).
modifying the sounds is quite simple, but rather restricting, thus,
most tunes had good melodies rather than good sounds. And those
converted to bad set of samples...

But as I said, things got better rather fast :-)

But still, any simple things can ruin a good game. Rampart, for
example. Very playable on C64, has even 3 player support, 2 joysticks
+ keyboard.

What did Amiga version do wrong? Well, mouse control suits that game
really well. In fact, too well, as another player has to play with
joystick. Becouse of that, it soon becomes rather boring "Lets swap
controls, my turn to win now!"

On C64, controls weren't good, but they were equal between players
