DawnVideoPoker for next generation hardware?
« on: November 29, 2004, 05:06:03 PM »
Hi!

Many (some?) of you probably recognize DawnVideoPoker. Those who don't, it is one of the best poker games for Classic Amigas.

But it has some problems. It works only on ECS/AGA chipset and sounds work only through Paula.

Long ago I contacted the author about those problems and got the (Amos) sources to the game. I started rewriting the GFX routines to be RTG compatible (keeping the code AMOS), and partially succeeded in doing that.

But still there were problems (graphical problems, sounds etc.) and I thought of rewriting the game on C.

So, what do YOU think about it? Would it be worth doing it?

Personally I could do MorphOS version, and let someone else concentrate on getting the same code working on OS4 & AROS. And I see no reason why there couldn't be 68k version aswell (For UAE & gfx card equipped classic amigas)

There isn't much C code (yet) and I think that most parts of the code should be rewritten rather than converted with Amos2C. But doing it shouldn't be THAT complex...

So... What do you think about the project? Could you possibly help with the project and if you could, how?

You should change the betting, though.

The idea is to make the game as "adjustable" as possible so, it can handle different graphics resolutions, different object sizes / placement etc.

And of course also the game options.
