Or better yet use Maverick, Lockpic or Project D or similar program and make a copy that patches the game to remove it all together. 
I bought this game back way back in the day and one of the first things I did was patch the executable so that it no longer needed that freakin' code wheel. One of best moves I ever made including buying this game. An awesome game for its time. I hate to think of the hours I wasted playing it!
