For a more home based remedy, you could try applying a bit of Petroleum Jelly.
I find it works quite good for repairs of this kind. Easy to apply and not too messy. A little bit goes a long way.

The lithium grease is a good recommendation also. you can even get it in a spray can. The spray can come with a tube so that you can control where it goes. It's a bit expensive, but a can will last a really long time (I've had the same can for 7-8 years) because you really need to use so little of it.
