Looking for a good C64 forum

I know this is a bit off topic, but I thought there should be some C64 knowlegeable people hanging out here.

I recently purchased a C64c off ebay. It appears to be in very good condition, except that it seems to me that the included power supply is not the correct one. The included supply is made by Suntron and it is rated as follows...

Output:
5VDC @ 700 mA
12VDC @ 500 mA

it has a DIN plug that is same size as the one on the C64 but it only has four pins where the C64 has 7 pins.
The seller that I bought this from claims that he tested this C64 with this supply, but I'm just not buying this. The DIN plug could maybe be forced into the C64 but to me it just doesn't seem to line up correctly. Also if I remeber correctly the C64 required a 9VAC input not 12VDC.

I'm bummed out here I'd really like to try this machine out and see if it works. Although I've had Amigas for many years, I've never even touched a C64 before!  :-o

If anyone could help clarify this for me or point me in the direction of a good C64 forum I would appreciate it.

Well, after looking at the diagrams for the C64 power supply connector. It seems to me that there is just no way this Suntron power supply could have possibly allowed the seller to power up this C64. The diagrams clearly show that 9VAC is present on two of the pins.

Looks like I'll be searching for a power supply now and having a nice chat with the seller!

Well, your message made me take a step back and re-think the whole problem.

So here is what I've come up with...

The 5VDC is important. Perhaps most important.
...but the curent output is not even close to the C64 specifications of 1.5A this supply is only rated to 700mA!
Under rating a supply by 800 mA doesn't make good sales sense.

The 9VAC is also important if you want externals to work.

I saw the page that you provided the link for. I also found three other links that were similar. After spending about 1.5 hours on Google. I beleive that the link above may be for a Suntron with stock No. PS#100. The supply I have says that it is a Stock No. PS#104.

On top of every thing else, I've looked at the pin out of the C64 and the Suntron and no mater which way I try to make   the pin out bewtween the two match is just doesn't. I have even measured the supply voltages with a DVM just to make sure that the diagram etched on the supply label is correct. The pins on the supply cable  don't even match up correctly with the holes in the C64 connector. If the guy I bought this C64 from used this supply then the only way I see this to be possible is if the Jammed the ps connector into the C64 with much (evil!) force. Then upon turning the supply on the 5VDC and 12 VDC would have either been shorted together across pin 6 (9VAC) and pin 7 (9VAC) of the C64 or across pin 3 (GND) and pin 1 (GND) of the C64 depending on how he jammed the connector in to the socket.

What i'm wondering is if this Suntron supply may have been for a different Commodore machine. It has a stock No. PS#104 and a model No. of DV-5128-1
