Welcome

When you get your harddrive up and running install WHDLOAD and get a memory expantion or acc board..  WHDload will patch all the games for running better it will also allow floppy less loading extremly fast. Most games are supported "orginal copy neded for installing".. If you have a hard time finding a affordable acc board i have a blizzard 1220 with 4 mb fastram i could sell you, it is a good card for the basic things...

Thanks for all your tips and suggestions.

Having spent some time (and finding a pdf of the workbench 3.0 manual) I'm feeling a little more confident with the Amgia.

Thanks for the offered of hardware. I've ordered the 2.5 cable off Ebay (hopefully arrive after Paddy's day,)
If the 2gb drive works okay I might take the plung and buy a larger one from amigakit. I've ordered a shed load of games from here and there, due to arrive over the next week.

I have a question about compatability. I bought Switchblade II and it doesn't seen to play very well on the A1200. as compatability patches easy to come across?
Wikipedia states there are a number of compatability issues on the A1200 with A500 games.

Thanks to you all.

As for compability problems most of us amiga users use WHdload to install games and patch them to obtain 100% playability with games used both for older amiga 500 games and mever aga games ... So if with WHdload there are almost NO compatability issues on the A1200 with A500 games.
