Sound, VGA Boxes And The Computer Nobody Knows
« on: October 28, 2005, 11:28:53 AM »
I bought one of those VGA boxes a while ago (as discussed in another thread) and it works well. There is one problem however. I can't get sound. It takes a three connector input, two sound and one picture (red, white and yellow). I have one end coming out of the modulator port on the Amiga and another going into the picture slot in the box but I can't figure out how to get sound. The box itself has an output for a pair of PC speakers. The sound lead that came with my A520 won't connect anywhere onto the box. I assume I need some sort of new lead. Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S I just started a computer course and one day a few of us were talking about what computers/operating systems we used. Most of the people were eighteen and not one had heard of an Amiga, they thought it was an obscure version of Linux!

Thanks for the quick reply. The only sound equipment I own is a portable CD/cassette player/radio type thing. I've got about three pairs of PC speakers though and I was hoping to use them somehow.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your help (I know this thread is old but I've been revising for the past few days and haven't had time to login. I'm going to try and get the proper cable from the hifi store up the road.

The VGA boxes are here:

I got mine off Ebay however.

Hi, following the earlier reply on this thread about buying an  RCA mini jack I was wondering whether this would do the trick...

By the looks of it the two ends would fit into the Amiga's stereo sound ports, but would the other end fit into the port on the VGA box?

P.S The picture quality is not wonderful but it's usable and I was using a fifteen year old colour TV that was dying before this, so it's a step up.
