Blizzard 1260 and double sided SIMM
« on: April 19, 2005, 06:16:46 PM »
I just bought a 64Mb SIMM on an online auction for my Blizzard 1260. Today when I opened the package I noticed that it was a double sided SIMM which wouldn't fit. :(

I decided to try it anyway by holding it in place with my thumb while booting up, and it actually showed 62.3Mb after I booted. I now use a rubberband to keep it in place.

My question is... can the double sided SIMM make my Amiga unstable, or even worse possibly damage my hardware.. or is it just a question of not enough room on the board?

Rubberbands have a tendancy to break with time, especialy if subjected to heat. If the simm does come lose there's a real chance you might break your CPU card!

Until I've eventually got my hands on a single sided SIMM, I'll make sure to keep the rubberbands up to date.  :-)
