Little off topic, but I find the mac/amiga comparisons made by some apple fans kinda baffling. Theyre like chalk and cheese. Whatever though, people can enjoy whatever they like.
As for he original post, I dont disagree terribly with the content, but the attitude towards those facts is a bit weird. Things have been this way for years and years with the "official" amiga, but that doesnt stop me enjoying my classics as I always have, and there's other options that are a bit more paletable than the official successor these days anyway if that doesnt satisfy someone. We'll always be behind the curve ball, be it OS4.x, mos, aros, whatever, but that doesnt mean it still cant be an enjoyable experience. And if someone doesnt enjoy the experience anymore, then what's the problem? Simply move on and focus on something you do enjoy.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

Charging  600% more for a FREE emulator someone else wrote, especially the C64 bollox which Commodore never hunted anyone like the VICE team down for including ALL roms in their distros. Oh and making it more difficult to use because of encryption too is OK too you mean......man you are the only lunatic here so keep your embarassing comments to yourself less you look more stupid already :roflmao:

The only idiot here is you sorry. Cloanto are holding back the spreading of the wonders of Amiga via others for 1/4 price and have funded zero Amiga projects from ???? Forever bollox @ rip-off prices.

+1 to Amiga_Nut. A spot on factually accurate post indeed. C64DTV, Natami and Minimig are all that's left.

I see this written quite a bit, but you do realise do you not that you're not paying for the emulator ? As for Cloanto doing nothing, err,.. ever heard of Personl Paint ? How about the AROS Kickstart replacement ROM?. Just 2 recent examples. Some of the content on the Amiga Forever discs is quite entertaining (the videos for example).

Did I miss something, what role if any does Cloanto play in this?

I was simply responding to Digiman's claim that Cloanto have contributed nothing to Amiga projects. (ie. Cloanto have donated to kickstart replacement bounty)

Maybe I am naive, but I'm still waiting for the MorphOS Team's "Proclamation for the Future". That obviously means "Post PPC".

I'm hoping it will be going in the ARM direction...

MorphOS is, as opposed to AROS (and OS4 for that matter), actually truly usable. For real!

They are *Eon's* apart! (heh ;))

I'm sorry, I really like the AROS effort and all, and I think *it can* have a future, but it's *Nothing* like MorphOS!

A future doesnt necessarily suggest the quality of an OS itself (theyre not nearly as far apart as MOS people like to suggest though). The simple fact that AROS runs on so much hardware (including stuff you can walk into a shop today and buy) is a huge plus. PPC is more or less a dead end as far as a desktop platform goes, and ARM is even behind PPC in terms of raw grunt. As a desktop system, if PPC + ARM really are the only things MOS has in it's future, then it's life span is limited. Already there's things it simply cant do because of lack of raw grunt let alone the potential to move to an even weaker (albiet interesting) architecture. Im not interested in a vs. debate, and to be honest my interest inb the amiga mainly lays in the classic camp, but AROS has so much more future potential than either OS4.x or MOS, even if its a bit rougher around the edges at the moment.

??
You mean "hosted"?
Did you hear me oppose that?
No, no, no... Serious players (like nVidia) is using ARM to take on x86 in power computing, with Microsoft support!
:)

No, I mean native.
Never said you disputed it.
What you mean Denver ? The quad core arm chip that perfomrance wise is akin to a pentium4 (even nvidia claim it's not x86 level performance. Still a nice jump vs. current arm cpus, but a far cry from even x86 of a few years ago and its still a while away). 1 core of a system that is outdated performance wise doesnt fill me with hope. It's definately an interesting technology, but not really right for a desktop system.
For clarification, I like MorphOS, and as things currently stand it's has some advantages over other "NG" amiga based systems, but as far as future potential goes it's not too far removed from OS4.x.
