my attempt at a new 2d amiga art package
« on: January 29, 2011, 04:59:00 PM »
A few days ago I got motivated to get back into a project I started a few years ago. Being that Ive learned a bit since then, and my code was badly commented Ive started a "version2" from scratch rather than trying to salvage the original version.

There's not really anything exciting to show yet, Ive only been working on it for 2 days, but things have gone reasonably smoothly and I've been having lots of fun :)

I appologize for the (lack of) quality of the screenshot, and you can barely make anything out because of it, but what you (almost) see is a palette prefs window (and a file requestor to load a palette), and a few empty "new images". I'll try to get something sorted for better screenshots when there's more interesting stuff to show, at the moment Ive just used a crappy ooold webcam to take a picture of my amigas monitors screen  :)

Anyway, I dont know if this is even worth the effort to share yet, but Ive been having a blast and wanted to share my effort so far with people  :)

Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

Hmm, interesting. Is this going to be a simple paint program, or more of a layer-based image editor like Photoshop or the GIMP?

The vision I have for it is probably somewhere in between. A few more "modern" features than Dpaint/Ppaint (like layers), etc., but the simple, easy to use nature of Dpaint and co. The inspiration is a mixture between PaintShop Pro9, dpaint/ppaint and brillaince, plus a few things that dont exist in any packages Ive seen that Ive always thought would be nice to have for my own graphics work.
