Help needed creating 1680x1050 screenmode on os3.x
« on: November 28, 2010, 02:02:31 PM »
A few days ago I made one last attempt at getting amithlon/os3.9 running glitch free on a more "modern" system (well, core2duo clocked @3.86ghz anyway, so modern-ish at least). After wrestling with it and installing all the essential extras and software, etc. I've finally got it working very nicely (quick sidenote, but Ive used amithlon a lot over the years, on relative to the time reasonable gear (athlon xp 2400+, athlon 64 3400+), and very much enjoyed what was possible on amiga os3.x on faster hardware, but on todays recent gear it opens up new doors again,.... very much enjoying it at the moment).

Until now I'd never had the need to create a new screenmode. I've tweaked existing ones before when needed, but never created a new one. However Im currently using a monitor who's native resolution is 1680x1050 and Im pretty lost. I've only got so far as creating a new mode in the list of resolutions down the bottom left (inside prefs/Picasso96Mode), but nothing shows up on the right for me to edit. Also, some other resolutions tell me there's not enough video ram  for higher color depths, even though there theoretically should be (tells me this of 800x600x32 for example and it's an 8 meg card).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.
