Hatari uses SDL, so an rtg system is necessary. I myself ported it to 68k in 2006, so Im pretty familiar with it

While a pretty decent emulator it is quite slow vs. other options, but it has its own advantages against other ST emulators too. It's essentially something akin to UAE for atari st in that it emulates multiple cpus, gfx cards, harddrives, etc, etc.
Unfortunately even on '060 + rtg you'll need to disable sound and set a frameskip of 2 or 3 to have it even partially usable. It really is only useful for x86 uae (ie. systems who support jit emulation) and amithlon users unfortunately.
If you want to try an atari st emulator on the amiga I strongly recommend stonx (which I beleive is called stonamiga for the amiga port) as it is sooooo much faster (by a factor of 5-10x at a rough guess).
