Weird problem with Amigakit's PCMCIA Software
« on: February 10, 2009, 12:26:02 PM »
I have recently purchased a PCMCIA=>CF solution for my A1200 from Amiga kit. I have tested it with a 512MB CF card, and it worked great. It even works if I switch on the Amiga with this CF adapter inserted in the converter.

Subsequently, I purchased an 8GB CF card and at first it wouldn't work at all. I replaced the "compactflash.device" on the HDD with a more recent version I found on Aminet. This worked great. Now when I insert the 8GB CF Card, its icon appears around 8 seconds later on Workbench.

Now there is one remaining problem - when I switch on the A1200 with the 8GB CF card inserted, the CF's icon does not appear on Workbench. I have to remove/re-insert the CF for it to appear. This is strange because I have no such problem with the 512MB CF card.

Amigakit have suggested to do a "diskchange CF0:" command in CLI, but it did nothing :(

Any help is appreciated!!!

Just in case, here is my start-up sequence file:

Dunno, is there a command to 'reset' pcmcia port, once Workbench has loaded?

you already running the card reset stuff.
try to move the cf0 driver to wbstartup, it may help if the problem
has something to do with the 4gb limit.

Can't think of a command off hand.  How about moving the CF0 file out of devs:dosdrivers to some where else and mount it at the end of your user-startup.  Maybe mounting it later will make a difference.  If that doesn't work you could mount it manually after workbench has loaded. Move CF0 out of Devs:dosdrivers to new location then leave the icon out on the desktop and double click it once wb has loaded for example.

Just tried didntwork :( I still have to eject/re-insert the CF.
