Couple of Minimig questions
« on: December 29, 2008, 08:57:18 PM »
I am considering purchasing a new monitor, and one of its uses will be for a minimig... I have two questions :)

1. What resolution does the minimig output?

1024 x 768?
800 x  640?
640 x 480?
Pal resolution depending on the game? (such as 320 x 256, 640 x 256, 640x512, etc.)

I suspect the Minimig would scale all video outputs to a fixed resolution, maybe someone knows what it is.

2. If I use a non 4:3 monitor (such as 5:4 or 16:9) will the screen be stretched to fill all screen (ewwww) or it will have borders on sides?

Thanks in advance!

Well I was thinking of buying this one:

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-monitors/lcd/value-series/va926.htm

According to specs it can do both 31khz and 50hz needed for minimig. In the manual it mentions nothing about choosing display modes.

In the case that it stretches the picture to fill the screen, I guess I can manually scale it to 4:3 as there not much difference between the two resolutions.

Darrin dont confuse TVs with Monitors. TFT/Plasma monitors have nice stretching options, smart, 4:3 and all that... but in my knowledge TFT widescreen monitors do not.

Well normal picture such as the one minimig outputs = 4:3

That one there is 5:4, its more square.
