Indivision A4000 Is Awesome!
« on: March 27, 2009, 01:05:30 AM »
Red got me last week with his free shipping...my new Indivision A4000 arrived this afternoon.  After packing in the work I'd been doing (it will wait until tomorrow)  I took my A4000 out of storage and installed the board.

I hadn't used the A4000 for a bit since I sold theScanMagic I'd been using for it last fall.  Boy am I glad I pulled the ScanMagic.  It's replacement is MUCH MUCH better!

Installation was simple, the only problem I ran into was putting enough pressure on the board to seat it properly on the Lisa chip.  First attempt didn't work, I went back and got the board to pop on and it worked fine from there.  Upgraded to the 1.4 firmware and all is good!

Great board, thanks Jens!!  Good to have my A4000 back again!!

Didn't think I'd need to do the pictures, not much different than those Jens has available on the web.  Looks just about like what I could do...

The only difference is the final board is a standard green. :-D

Haven't really gotten to all the screens. I had the machine in DblHires noflicker with the ScanMagic.  Looks even better here.  I did have to readjust the text and overscan prefs to get the screen centered properly.  I've been looking at software and just can't believe how crisp the color looks.

Just popped open the case and, ok its a blue/green.

The light was dim and I was in a hurry to get the board installed!!!

Two common mistakes in one installation! Always have enough light when working on a computer, and take your time to read instructions, install the thing and to double-check everything before you put it all back together.

Yes, I read that in the manual, after I'd installed the board!  (Ok, I'm guilty..a manual writer who doesn't RTFM!)

Two questions about the Indivision a4000,

1) How far does it stick off the a4000 mother board is it less than the chip and fast ram?
2) does it have its own vga connector or does it use the existing a4000 monitor output, if so does a person simply use the standard adapter from the a4000 video out to the standard 9pin vga? or will a sync strainer work?

Rossi,

It's very low-profile.  From my eye it looks like most cards in the bottom slot would have clearance.

The Indivision comes with it's own VGA port and a cable to connect to the Indivision.
