Arright, arright, next time I'll take MORE THAN the week I took thinking things through, what would work the best for both parties in terms of making sure everything's intact, shipping a buttload of stuff, etc.

Seriously, last time I shipped a computer via eBay, despite massive padding etc., the following happened:

- The bracket inside bent.

- The CPU card somehow got fried.

- The floppy drive got knocked out of the bay.

- A fan that I actually had hot-glued to the sound card somehow got disengaged.

Basically, the A4000 was rendered unusable. Thankfully, 1) the buyer was very understanding, 2) FedEx covered the damage, and 3) he was able to sell the working parts and actually get a good chunk of the buying price back just from that.

As for the starting price, a few things to consider:

- It's a complete system.
- It's upgraded -- I paid $1400 for the thing just a bit over a year ago with only 256 megs of RAM, one hard drive, and no DVD capabilities at all.
- It includes a printer and several ink carts.
- It includes Audio Evolution, which itself cost me at least $120.
- I won't charge extra for the gas and mileage I'll use to drive 2+ hours to deliver (if necessary).

Also...I will admit...if it doesn't sell, I won't be too disappointed, as I'll get to keep it longer. :)

As usual in life, critics don't offer helpful suggestions.

(Yay! A helpful suggestion!  :-)  )

Yeah...I've actually been thinking....I forget that the last time I sold a computer it was a huge honkin' tower and a b!tch to pack and expensive to ship...for God's sake, this thing is the size of a large shoebox...I undoubtedly have a big enough box to ship it in and pad the crap out of it...ditto the printer...

Yeah, I just might make that change.

BTW -- don't worry about the "pride and joy" thing. I'm definitely NOT leaving the world of Amiga. The way I see it, OS4 does pretty much everything OS 3.9 does, but much faster. And the things you can do with OS4 right now can be done on other platforms. I can always use an Amiga emulator, and believe me, I plan to -- especially as I can go back to DOpus Magellan. :)

And the way I see it...if OS4 ever does finally come out, it means there's hardware available, and if I want, I can buy it later. If it DOESN'T come out, then what would I be doing with a glorified Linux box?
