I had a MKiii in an A3000D for over a year until I sold the computer. While I ran into weird hard drive checksum errors from time to time, I never had a problem with the accel or SIMMs on it per se, despite the cramped space in one of those computers, it all seemed to work fine for me.
One thing you can also do, is buy a 486 heat sink - they are EXACTLY the same size as the 68060 chip on that accel, and you can just either clip or glue it onto the CPU directly, works great and will fit in there, because the SIMMs rise above the horizontal level of the CPU top and there's space in there for it. I did this on both my A4000T when it had a MKIII, and in my A2000 which has a TekMagic 68060 card in it. In the tower/A2000, you have more space to clip a fan on there instead of a heat sink...
