Smerf's A1200
« on: November 11, 2012, 08:59:16 PM »
Hi all,

If everything works out ok, I will show some pictures of my A1200, if not then suffer, you won't see the best. The A1200 board was put in a old Gateway server case, all sheet metal modifications where done by yours truly the smerf. Shown also is a Blizzard board with a 240mhz ppc and a 68040/40 mhz cpu's. The A1200 also has a I believe lyra PC keyboard adapter and a pcmcia CF adapter to transfer files. The PCMCIA port can also be used for wireless networking and memory. Shown in one picture is my newest addition a video converter card which allows me to hook up to a vga or lcd monitor.

EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!!!

By the way this project is still underway, have to straighten out the wires and mount the new board in somehow.

How are you going to use Amigaforever on that?

You cranky old fart...

Why Kesa what a novel idea, I will use PCtask 4 and put windows on that and then put on Amiga Forever.

Thank you,

Needs RTG next :)

Hi,

@Karlos,

a mediator board is in the works sometime in the future. Already have my Voodoo board, only hope the Voodoo board works, it is about 10 years old.

I like the case a lot :)
How well do the CBS video converter work? I have not tried one since my 1200 got the Indivision but I have been thinking of getting one for my other machines.

Hi,

I really like mine, but it will only display the Amiga modes, with the highest resolution being 640 x 400 interlaced with 256 colors but without the flicker. For the price you pay it isn't bad, and looks kind of great on my ASUS lcd or my Gateway multisync. You can find the DB23 connectors on ebay or http://www.cabledepot.com

Just make sure you get the right pinouts, and take a look at youtube for videos on how to set them up, the one I watched was in espanol, but he got the idea across.

My converter seems to display a real bright red, but there are adjustments on the board for it, I will probably try it tonight.

I'm surprised you actually have a real, physical Amiga, smerf.

Hi,

Not just one but a couple of them.
Amiga 4000
Amiga 3000
Amiga 500
CD-32
C64

The ones in upgrade mode right now are the A1200 and A4000. Will probably display what the A4000 has in the future, since it is getting to where I want it.

Hi,

@Karlos,

Already have OS 4.1, works on the Amiga 1200, but I like OS 3.9 better. Will have to take a look at the G-Rexx board. Thanks for the info, might get one for Christmas, off my work bonus. You know sell enough computers and Cooky baby gives you a big bonus.
