I know what you mean. I spent large parts of my childhood in a small town on the edges of the South-Swedish highlands. The town, Stidsvig (stop laughing, Dan! ;-)), is one of those tiny holes that you really, really hate to live in, but I have quite a few fond memories from growing up there.

There is a certain charm in being able to ride a bicycle in the middle of the main road without anyone caring, or even taking notice. As I've gotten older, I now realise that it's kinda pleasant to live that close to nature aswell.
