Hi,
The good old 1438 is a re-badged Microvitec monitor - and these are proper multisyncs, going from PAL 15KHz modes up to 640x480 "Productivity" (and even 800x600 on a PC, though only at about 60Hz maximum refresh rate).
So experiment away! You shouldn't kill it, not with the native AGA chipset, anyway...
