on all my amigas my serial ports failed especially when I tried to run a terminal program...it was my ps.
Are you sure it was just the serial ports? If the serial ports werent working because of the power supply, that leads me to believe the -12V line wasn't working. If the -12V line isn't applied, the Amiga will still boot, but the serial port
and the paula audio will stop working properly.
