Slow Transfer on PowerFlyer ZIV
« on: February 28, 2007, 04:49:53 PM »
Hey guys, i'm trying to troubleshoot my powerflyer problems. I have a brand spanking new 80GB WD HDD, it's rated @ 7200RPM, 16.6MB/s @ PIO Mode 4. I've tried and tried to set it on PIO 4 in FastATA prefs, but it won't boot unless it's on PIO 3. I ran Drivespeed and got about 2.6MB/s, which is pretty dang slow for this drive. Could it be from me formatting it with FFS? I'd like to squeeze as much out of this drive as I can.

Any help/ideas are appreciated.

Ok. It's just my CD-RW and HDD on the IDE chain. Funny thing is, the CDROM seems to be OK @ PIO 4, while the hard drive won't boot if it's on anything other than PIO 0 or 3. I'm running a 68040 @ 25MHZ w/ a PPC @ 180MHZ. I'd think it would be able to run better. I'll switch everything to PIO0 and see how that works.
