If you want to leave it as 'new in box' it's fine. However, if you do want to use it you may likely find a big hole in the board where the battery once was....

I suspect if they've never been charged they won't leak. Similarly, I've got a brand new spare NiCd that's been sitting in a bag for absolute ages that also hasn't leaked.

It's the deep discharge that really kills these cells. If it's in a bag the discharge is limited but in a machine it's live.

If I were the seller I wouldn't look at it either. If it's leaked it's much too late already, there's nothing to gain.
