Actually...

...it's not battery acid, it's an alkaline (mostly potassium hydroxide) - in case you've wondered how an acid can neutralize another acid... ;)

Don't want to spoil the ebay business but the coin mod parts can be had for <1.50 €...

Just make sure to use a germanium diode since silicon ones have a larger voltage drop. They'd leave more unused charge in the battery, requiring earlier replacement.
