Erm... EGA was/is digital (6 bit = 64 colors).

It's 4 bits, so 16 colors (compatible w/ CGA). But you won't want that either. :-P

Possibly, but it's the first time I've heard that. It's pretty easy to build a small adapter though.

Not sure at all, but probably not - you can build a small circuit for that purpose.
