Skype's been out for ages (at least a year and a half... maybe two years or more) yet it's never really caught on nearly as much as all the original hype would make it out to have...

No...   Lindows/Linspire was started by Michael Robertson, founder and former CEO of MP3.com.  While Skype was by Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis

I'll admit, though, it's very hard to keep track of your senseless over-hyping dot-com relics nowadays...  ;-)
