@MikePig-

Don't panic too much!  I know I've seen this error before on my 4000 w/CV643d.  It scared the sh!t out of me, too!

It was a faulty configuration, but damn, I don't remember what was faulty, or what I did to fix it.  Ugh...  What version of CyberGraphX are you running?  Seems like I remember that error WAY back on like version 2.x series.

Hmm...  Actually, I just found my notes on it.  D'oh!  I was an idiot, and this may not help you.  The Cv64/3d does not HAVE a Roxxler.  Thus, if you try to enable it, you will get that message.  If you have a regular CV64...  eeek, it may have a roxxler problem.  :-(

(Of course, if you have a CV64/3d like me, it just confirms that, indeed, you do not have a Roxxler.  ;-)  )

Well, I'm still not sure I'd write the board off as defective, yet, though.  There's a LOT of stuff that can cause CV/CGX to act strange.  (As in, more than we can debug from here.  ;-)  )

If the card is recognized and shown as functional by the Amiga Early Startup, yet not shown at all in Showcgxconfig, I'd still be suspicious of software, at least until you have a config you're fairly sure is valid.

What I'd do next is try to set up a clean test environment.
If you can format yourself a second boot partition or removable disk you can boot from (Zip drives are excellent for this on Amiga), just install the bare minimum of whatever Amiga OS you are running to that.  (which version AmigaOS ARE you running, anyhow?? -- don't the 3.0 ROMs have some problems with CyberGraphX?) Then install your version of  the CyberGraphX software and apply the latest patches for your version from VGR.com.  See where you can end up from there...

The clean install removes a lot variables in one shot.

Also, what processor is your miggy running?
