I have used AmiTCP off and on for many years now...  I think some of the early versions were based on BSD, and then they branched further and further away from that over versions.  I don't know if any of the current Genesis really shares code with anything.

I noticed a large speed increase (~300+kb/sec - it didn't change surfing much, but transfers across the LAN were getting notably better speeds!) going to Genesis, too.  And this was over Miami with MNI drivers for an X-Surf vs. Genesis with stock drivers for an old C= 10-b-2 card.  The X-Surf may have been damaged goods all along, though, so I'm not sure how much my observations are worth.  Just an interesting data point.  My X-Surf passed away young, hence the switch...

You're right...  Genesis doesn't seem to support DHCP so well.   Bootp may work, though.  Seems like I have it enabled....
