My old 1950 monitor used to do that.  Bloody annoying.  General consensus was that it was a bad solder joint that was causing it.  I searched around in there and re-heated a lot of points, but never quite got the right one, though.  

I finally turned it over to a local Amiga shop (this was back 10 years ago) and they tried their hand at fixing it.  They failed.  They had it sitting in the back for a week or two while waiting for another technician they knew who was coming in to town.  One day it completely disappeared from their store.  Wonder if you ended up with it after all these years!  :lol:

[The store ended up giving me store credit for it, and I ended up picking up an old(!!) Sony Trinitron MultiSync.]
