I am wondering if it has something to do with the way my FusionForty accelerator boots the machine.
Could be... But the early-startup PAL option never worked so well on my A1200, either. Best to use Degrader or TUDE with the "50hz System" and "Survive Resets" options.
The only chip you should need for a system-generated PAL is the 8372A or newer Agnus.
