The flyback transformer is a high frequency transformer that produces the HV for the CRT anode as well as several other voltages. If a replacement part is available then changing it is fairly straightforward but you do have to be careful poking around in monitors. I've repaired CRT monitors for decades and could fix it if you happen to be local to me (Seattle area) but shipping both ways would be cost prohibitive. Whatever the case don't throw it out, CRTs are not manufactured anymore and the last tube rebuilder shut down a couple years ago. What's out there now is what we have and when they're gone they're gone.

It's all very well saying hoard old CRTs even if you don't know anyone nearby to fix it but seriously, who has the space? I managed 28 years out of my Acorn ADF-32 28-ADF32 using with both an Atari ST in the 80s and early 90s and then my AGA Amiga since 1995 and I consider that good service. Even when the power button broke I continued to use it (it was stuck 'ON') by plugged it into an Eyetech external Amiga PSU. When it broke this year I just thought it's seen its day to be honest and over a quarter of a century's use is awesome! Sometimes you just have to let go and I'm very happy with my Benq BL702A ;-)

There are more options besides hoarding it or throwing it away. It's easy to find someone who will take it, with people paying $100+ for beat up vintage CRT monitors on ebay it's not hard to give away even a dead one if it's something vintage. Most of the older ones are easy to fix, they're very simple. A lot more fun to work on than the modern stuff and to my eyes they look much nicer than LCD.

I've given away about five of them over the years. You can't sell 'em, since there's almost a 100% chance of them getting damaged in shipment. So unless you can find someone who wants them locally they're about as useful as a doorstop, lol.

I bet if you post it on craigslist it will be gone in no time. I've shipped CRT monitors successfully but it requires careful packing and is not likely to be worth it for one of these. There are some where it would be though, for a while I was looking for an IBM EGA monitor for my XT but I eventually gave up. A few of them went up on ebay but they all sold for >$300 + shipping.

15kHz RGB monitors are popular with the arcade guys too as bench test monitors.
