Amiga joysticks on pc
« on: November 20, 2004, 02:05:43 PM »
Howdy!

I once saw a web page which explained how to connect 2 amiga joysticks to the PC gameport...

Are there any other ways to do this (not thru the gameport, but usb, or parallel ?) so they will work with WinUAE?

Yep, that's perfectly possible. You can either buy a converter (such as this or this one) or you can hack your own old USB gamepad (which seems alot more fun and cheaper than the purpose built converters).

Will that USB gamepad hack work with two controllers? The site says something about problems with two joysticks..

i'm googling my arse off here :P thanks anyway :)

Also found this:
http://www.geocities.com/deonvdw/Docs/PPJoyMain.htm

It states that this will work with the parallel adapter (which is also used for 3rd and 4th joy support on the Amiga)...

Anyone has expierience with this one?

One more thing...
About the parallel adapter...

Googled around and found two different wiring schemes:
http://www.hardwarebook.net/adapter/userinput/amiga4joysticks.html
http://www.tgpd.fsnet.co.uk/tutorials/hardware/thecrypthardware/4-player.html

Pin 18 and 19 (on parallel port) are switched, which one should i use?

Damn internet... way too much info :)
