Installing WB 2.1
« on: October 01, 2004, 04:12:25 PM »
Hi All,
I have finally got the space to dig my Amigas out of storage, and I have got hold of a 350Mb HD that I have installed in my A600. I am trying to install WB2.1, the problem is, if I use HDToolBox it finds the drive and allows me to partition it, and after that part, I can't see the drive to format it. Shouldn't it put something like "DH0:???" on the Workbench? Anyone got any ideas?

Edit - KS 37.300

Still no luck..
HDToolbox finds the drive and can identify it and read all the info from it no problems, still cant get it to appear in Workbench. It had an 850Mb drive in it that I 'borrowed' from an old laptop, but I needed to put it back, and that drive had WB installed on it no problems. However, when I set up that one I didn't use HDToolbox, I used another utility, and I can't remember what it was called.

Ok I remember now..I used HDInst last time, and this time, even though HDToolbox is showing up the drive, HDInst reports there are no drives in the system

What kind of HDD are you using? I'm using a Seagate ST9385. The IBM TravelStar that I had in it worked fine, I did a direct swap. It may be a case of the Ami just doesnt like that drive
The drive formats/works perfectly in a PC

I just bought another KS3.1 from Vesalia, it was 19 Euro I think from memory, which really isn't that much.
But of course, while doing all this, the Magic Smoke got out o my 1084S and now I have no monitor
