Problems reading CF card
« on: January 05, 2026, 02:01:09 PM »
Hello (newbie here on this forum),
I recently installed an 8MB Fast Ram + IDE2 board in my Amiga 500++. It is based on the design from Oleg Mishin. I connected a CF card reader to the IDE connector so that I can use it as an IDE hard drive and boot directly to Workbench. The upgrade board works and all memory is recognized. I also bought an Amiga 600Workbench 3.1 + WHDLoad (3GB games and programs on CF)+ Amiga Forever Kickstart 3.1 ROM from ebay. The seller of the CF card says it should work with an A500+ that has an IDE board like mine.

My Amiga 500++ I built myself and has the ECS chipset running Workbench 3.1 and has 2MB Chip RAM in addition to the already mentioned 8MB fast RAM from the upgrade board.

When I try to boot to the CF card I get the following error: FS-III Error Requester TD32 and Direct SCSI access modes failed! Can't read block 7626527 (<4G) oktagon.device:0

Please see attached images

The CF card has 2 partitions. DH0 is System and DH1 is Games: CF card works perfectly in WinUAE
Thanks For any and all assistance! and Happy New Year!
Mike

Thank you for the quick reply!
Not sure what version of PFS3 was written to the card (I bought it on ebay with a CF card adapter and Amiga Forever Kickstart Rom). Yes the IDE card has the Flash ROM containing BSC Oktopussy ROM (purchased from Retro Lemon). That is why it is oktagon.device. Also I cannot see what the partitions are even in WHDLoad. When I try to run HD Tools everything is greyed out See attached. Also attached is screenshot from WHDLoad showing hard drive info (the CF). From WHDLoad the card looks like it is just under the 4GB though...?

Thanks. I went into WinUAE and started workbench. I selected the HDTOOLS and then selected information to change it from scsi.device to oktagon.device. I then tried HD Tools again and it still doesn't show anything
