Just bought an A500 - first Amiga in 30 years - what now?
« on: September 26, 2025, 12:03:26 AM »
I just bought a stock A500 with a floppy selector board. I got an A520 with it just to be able to quickly hook it up to a display.

Ultimately, I'd like to do some development, specifically banging on HW directly. But to start I'd like to make things convenient, e.g. not wait around for floppies loading/switching.

I see various options out there but would like some recommendations on what might be the best route to upgrade.

What else might also be 'typical upgrades'? I see PiStorm can provide acceleration, RAM, graphics, SD card(?)...but I do want to keep things compatible so I can test what I develop on a standard machine. So I'm not sure that would be the best route, or a GoTek and something else? What display options are best? etc.

Just looking for some advice, thanks.
