DHCP / NETWORKING/ INTERNET / MIAMI / GENESIS
« on: August 24, 2004, 12:09:17 AM »
how do i get my amiga on t'internet?

i've got my router to find it, but i still cant get on the net with it

this is usung the miami(3.1g i think) demo from an old cucd, as the one on aminet didnt like me - even after i downloaded all of the archives,

since my old netconnect(GENESIS) software doenst work, and no-one seems to know anything about it, miami looks like my only hope, even tho its a demo

can amiga's use DHCP, or has that not been written yet?

3.0, netconnect 2.3, a 3com ethernet card pcmcia, a a1200, blizzard 030/50/882, and about 5 gig of hard drive space

the problem aint cleening the CD, the program wont accept the licence code that's printed on the manual, and therefore wont unarchive it

just under the black splodge is where the serial code is located you cansee above it it says "your unique serial code"

but it asks for a licence code- i'm not convinced that they are the same

@edderkop

one of them does, there is a serial code, which is just numbers, and there si a written one, but that doesnt work either

one of them is a 12345-123456789123 (5-12)numbers code
and the other is a 4-4-4-4-4-3 letters and numbers code - this has a full stop and might be missing a letter, i'd have more thought it'd have ended with 4 letters/numbers

so yes, if that's the code, i'l try to sort it out

there is also a serial code with numbers only in a 4 - 2 -3 format - this also doesnt work :(

@dnelsonfl

i have a netgear dg834g

i have 3 pc's on lan, and one on wifi (with 128 bit security so my neighbours cant steal my 1meg pipex bandwith :)), and i'm trying to get the amiga set up as the 4th lan comp

i'll prolly have it all sorted when i can sort genesis out

it'll prolly take 5 mins to do, but its just trying to find out info before i start playing with it, know what i mean?

nah, it seems to make the key as it unpacks it.

its like a protected archive , like a password protected zip, or rar file, only it uses a custom unpacker - to which i dont know the format

This is probably easier than using the "reserved IP address" option you see on that screen. This is from Chapter 7 of the reference manual -

only the router doesnt quite work like the manual says

it'll either do DHCP or static routes

the nat translation doesnt seem to turn itslef off, and i just figured that by reserving 192.168.0.12 as my amiga - it being a 1200 - i've already been through the steps you just pointed out, i'll try adding the pipex's dns gateways to miami, i didnt think this'd be needed as my pc's pick it up because the routor already has this information on connect, i already have it set up to find my router, it just doesnt seem to like it because of dhcp - and the router doesnt like  you turning it off for 1 machine, its either on, or off,
