Linux is stable, however.
OS 4 does not yet disable the CPU when idle. I don't know if Linux does that, but it makes the CPU run hotter than it needs to be. There is the beginning of dynamic power management, but real power management will come in a later update.
Stability issues are almost exclusively caused by wrong voltage settings. Refer to
this article by Stépane Guillard that sums it up pretty nicely.
