RAD - what is it?!

Hi all, I have a query:
Regarding editing .adf files

How do I go about writing my .adf file to "RAD", and how do
I then edit it, and how do I write it back to adf?

Thanks for all the help / advice.
The game I'd like to edit is Swos 96/97.
(Or any other swos game)
I'm a little confused by the responses.
Do I edit my emulation .adf swos on the pc?
Or can I edit my amiga disks of the game(s) on my amiga?
I have workbench 2.05 I think (I have extras v2.05
and fonts v2.05).
