just go for the PS2, you won't regreat it. I still have my old miggy to keep secure my personal info (no way virus get there) I just finish Kindom Hearts (excellent game) on the PS2 and there are new realeases coming.
You can upgrade later to a linux and online gaming.
PS2 has the most diverse range of games, not just doom clones
favorite style of games among pc users, like the xbox.
The GC is going down and soon it will be out of the market.
