AmiBench help and suggestions
« on: June 30, 2025, 06:01:23 AM »
Hi!

I am a new member here. I have been using an Amiga 1200 (my first computer), but my knowledge is pretty basic regarding the original AmigaOSes and anything "power user" oriented.
I came back to Amiga scene recently and my A1200 is not working anymore, I decided to get into emulation with A600GS.

My interest is in AmiBench and what can I do with it?

Is anyone willing to explain what AmiBench really is, what can be installed to make it more usable (programs, games, tools, utilities...), share some screenshots of your custom AmiBench and what else is possible...

I am trying to understand and learn about A600GS and the Amiga emulation as a whole as much as I can, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanx for the links!

BTW, is there a way to disable automatic Backdrop change on every restart? In WBPatterrn there is a LIVE option but it does not save when disabled

What would the steps be for restoring an Amibench that no longer launches correctly?

It gets as far as the splash screen, then crashes/goes back to the system menu when it gets to the Workbench-like screen.

I've tried using the Restore options with no luck

Edit: Rattled through some more Advanced Re-install/upgrade options. Seems to have got all back to how it originally was. Now to re-install stuff again!

I have the same problem when I mess something up. I usually go to AmiSphere Profile=>Advanced Update=>reinstall first three .lhapps

Yup, those first three did the trick!

Just need to make a note/backup what I've rolled out prior to borking the system so after that refresh I can re-install everything.

I tried using Backup and Restore to backup AmiBench and V46 and other partitions but when I restore it destroys everything icluding inbuilt games, custom systems, drawbridge and all applications that came with A600GS. I did it two times and I am not using it any more :) Stay away from this

Uhoh. Might be worth backing up the whole SD card before carrying out any major changes, then writing it back should it goes wrong!

I'm staying away from Shapeshifter for a while anyway

Exactly. I reinstalled all of my custom systems again after messing it up and backed up the whole sd card to an image :)
If you don't mind, please share some screenshots of your AmiBench system + what you use/install on it. I am in a process of making it as usable as possible so I need ideas :D Thanx
